First aid procedures.

Invisible item
Knocked out tooth

It may be possible to re-implant the tooth in the gum, so the sooner you see a dentist the better.

In the meantime, you can provide first aid as follows:

  1. Handle the tooth carefully first of all. Hold the tooth by the crown (not the root) and rinse briefly under lukewarm water or in a bowl of milk.
  2. Secondly, rinse your mouth with lukewarm water.
  3. Try to re-implant the tooth in the gum. If this is not possible, store the tooth submerged in milk or in your saliva.
  4. See your dentist as quickly as possible.

Contact us at 061 480 070 and we’ll be ready to help!

Broken tooth
  1. First of all, collect all pieces of the tooth and store in milk or your saliva
  2. Next, rinse your mouth with lukewarm water
  3. Apply a cold pack to the mouth/cheek over the broken tooth following this and finally, see your dentist as soon as possible.

Please contact us at 061 480 070 and we’ll be happy to help.

Displaced tooth

A tooth may be moved out of place, pushed up, or pushed deeper into the gum.

It is vital to see your dentist as quickly as possible therefore, so that they may put it back in its normal position. The sooner that this can happen, the best chance of survival for the tooth. Also, the less chance that further treatment will be required down the road.

Contact us on 061 480 070 and we’ll be happy to help you.

Toothache
  1. Firstly, rinse your mouth with lukewarm water
  2. Use dental floss to remove any food or plaque that is lodged between the teeth
  3. Take an over-the-counter pain reliever as required and as per the pack instructions
  4. If the toothache was caused by trauma to the tooth and there is swelling, place a cold pack to the cheek over the damaged tooth
  5. See your dentist as quickly as possible.
